Mysuru: Though the Dasara was being said to be simple this time, the torch light parade at Bannimantap followed by Jambusavari entertained the audience by its rich cultural, musical and stunt programs.
The event started at 7 in the evening. Governor of Karnataka, Vajjubhai Rudhabhai Vala was the chief guest of the occasion. He received the honour of the police troupes, with 21 rounds of gun salute and canon firing. It was followed by National Anthem, State Anthem and Raitha Geethe. He went round the ground on an open jeep and received the honour of all
the units of police, mounted police, reserve police, NCC, Scouts, Guides, etc.
After that, ‘Shwethashwa’ police troupe performed bike show. ‘Shwethashwa’ team has got 2 Guinness world records in its name. It had performed stunts like, Parallel, single , diamond crossing, Criss crossing, climbing the ladder, sudarshana chakra, pyramid, etc. The bike stunt left everyone mesmerized. Shwethashwa team performed in such a way that, the name dare devil riders suits them perfectly!
They performed the stunts using Royal Enfield bullets. Along with the passing time, they are using bikes of lesser weights like Hero Impulse which allows them perform stunts with ease. They had performed more than 40 stunts in their allotted time.
Then the mounted soldiers unit done a mesmerizing tent pecking. Soldiers sitting on the horse, rode them very fast, and picked up the firing objects with a weapon in hand in a flash. The event was so cheerful that both the horses and the riders were lauded by the audience.
Then started the torch light parade. It created an aura among the audience. The torch light parade has a history of over 400 years. The kings of Mysuru, after worshipping the Banni tree at Bannimantap, were organizing cultural events and the well known torch light parade.
The police commandos have carried out the event very well. It had a lot of designs, formations that made the audience to enjoy the event. They created word designs like Susvagata, Jai Hind, Jai Chamundi, Karnataka Police, At your service, Happy Dasara, See you in 2016, etc.
A sad incident too took place during the parade, as a horse of the mounted police unit, Pratap, died of heart attack.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Revenue and District in charge minister V Srinivasa Prasad, Minister Mahadeva Prasad, etc were present during the occasion. By the end of torch light parade, Dasara 2015 too came to an end.
