September 7, 2017
Tata Motors today announced that the company will start accepting bookings for the upcoming Tata Nexon SUV from September 11, 2017. Being the first sub-4 metre SUV from the homegrown automaker, there is quite a bit of anticipation for the Tata Nexon, so much so that some Tata Motors showrooms have already started accepting pre-bookings for the SUV at the dealership level. However, from September 11, the official bookings will commence across all authorised dealerships in the country and interested customers can book the Nexon for a token of ₹ 11,000. The Nexon is expected to be launched in India later this month.
Talking about the Tata Nexon, Mayank Pareek, President, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors said, “Since its first showcase at the Auto Expo 2014, the Tata Nexon has been one of the most talked about and most awaited SUVs from Tata Motors. With its unique styling and the most appreciated feature set, the Nexon is a winner and a perfect car for the urban, young customers. With the Nexon, we have set new benchmarks in India’s fastest growing SUV segment and the recent feedback of the car, from experts, have been very encouraging. As per our turnaround strategy, we are working with a renewed focus and energy to improve our market share and bring products faster to market. We are delighted with the response and to cater to the increased demand, we are opening bookings soon.”
Now, we have already driven the Tata Nexon and you must have read out first drive review as well. The Nexon has truly impressed us and courtesy of the popular Impact design philosophy, the SUV comes with a bold design, premium styling and a host of smart features. Unlike the conventional SUVs, the Nexon comes with curvy proportions with a raked rear enhancing the sporty character of the SUV. Projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights, faux skid plates, roof rails and LED taillamps are some of the mentionable exterior offerings of the Tata Nexon.
On the features front, the Nexon will come with a well-laid out cabin with three-tone dashboard dominated by a floating dashtop touchscreen infotainment HD display, which is equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The car also features premium interior, comfortable upholstery and a central console with tambour door mechanism. There is also a drive control rotary knob to shift between the Eco, City and Sport driving modes, along with an elevated gear shift lever. On the safety front, the Tata Nexon gets two airbags and ABS with EBD as standard on all variants. Additional features include reverse parking camera, smart key with engine start & stop button, ISOFIX child seat mounts and more.
Under the hood, Tata Nexon features a 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged Revotron petrol motor, and a newly-developed 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, joining the Revotorq family. The petrol unit is, in fact, a turbocharged version of the one found on the Tiago and Tigor, and is tuned to belt out 108 bhp at 5000 rpm and 170 Nm of peak torque between 2000-4000 rpm. Whereas, the new 1.5-litre diesel motor makes 108 bhp at 3750 rpm and 260 Nm of torque between 1500-2750 rpm. Initially, the car will come with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard.
